We are looking to make a major impact on the women selected to improve their smile, oral health, and boost their self esteem. We want to remove any major oral health barrier to achieve financial self sufficiency and better their lives. Uninsured single women with children that demonstrate financial need and have career goals will be given priority consideration. Dream It Be It - Career Support for Girls
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls will help girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults. Dream It, Be It targets girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. Soroptimist International of Downtown Redding will work in partnership with girls in small groups or a conference setting to provide them with the information and resources they want and need to be successful. The topics covered include career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success and how to move forward after setbacks or failures. Visions of the Cross
Visions Of The Cross, Inc. is a multi-level social model treatment program that includes a faith-based therapeutic community. Our residential and outpatient programs focus on healing from addiction, using both faith-based and evidence-based secular approaches. Give Kids a Smile
Shasta County's Give Kids a Smile event offers FREE dental care for uninsured, low-income children (ages 0-18). Soroptimist International of Downtown Redding participates with Shasta Community Health Center in the American Dental Association's “Give Kids A Smile” national campaign offering free dental care to uninsured, low income children 1 to 18 years old. This is the centerpiece to the National Children's Dental Health Month and is observed every year on the first Friday in February. The national event started in 2002 and has grown to serve many hundred thousand children across the country each year. We have participated since 2005 and served many children each year.
One Safe Place
One Safe Place is committed to providing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with the resources needed for safety, healing and prevention of further victimization. http://www.ospshasta.org
Water and Stone Center
Water and Stone Center, Inc. mission is to promote racial and civic harmony through education. SIDR provides funds for 5 children to go to the school and support curriculum materials, uniforms, buildings, water, and sanitation. Water and Stone Center reaches into the village of Kyebando by providing the funds for building water cisterns and teaching village brick makers, masons, and carpenters to make and construct with environmentally sustainable bricks. http://waterandstone.org/?page_id=6

Helping Babies Breathe - Dominica
Shasta Community Health Center and Mercy Residents traveled to the improverished island of Dominica in the Spring of 2016 to teach basic neonatal resusitation techniques and bring training equipment to the school of nursing and midwifery. www.shastahealth.org
